It began with a conversation during my weekly poet group in July (2026). We were discussing the upcoming “Sealey Challenge” and none of us felt we could possibly manage a book of poetry every day. Not only did it feel like an overwhelming time commitment, we agreed that reading a full book would invariably force speed-reading which is not conducive to reading and appreciating poetry!!
Instead, we decided each of us would create our own poetry challenge that pushed us, both time-wise and mentally. One chose a 30-minutes/day, while another chose one poetry collection per week.
I thought this would be a great opportunity to read some of those poetry collections I had indeed been collecting but not reading. When I counted up, I was close to 40 poets and knew I would add to my collection so I landed on 40 days & 40 poets – 20 pages of poetry daily (from a single collection.)

I am planning to document my reading here also – check back in the coming weeks 🙂
